I live where I can look at the sea and where the movement and light inspire and influence my paintings of sea and marshes. I also like travelling and enjoy the shapes of landscape and the colour and design of places and people in their surroundings.

I paint in acrylic, oil and pastel, mainly in the studio. I like the physical action of painting and I paint because I need to. My work is is generally based on sketches, it is mainly representational but moves towards abstract when the subject needs it and I enjoy experimenting with mixed media. A sketchbook is usually with me, a few lines or words are enough to catch the mood for inspiration and ideas.

I have had work accepted for various Open Exhibitions, including the Pastel Society at the Mall Galleries and St Barbe Museum, and in 2013 I had a solo exhibition in the foyer at Southampton City Art Gallery. I am a past Chairman of the Lymington Palette Club and regularly take part in Hampshire Open Studios.
